Ceramics Class
#1 First Pinch Construction
I began my pinch construction by cutting off a piece of clay from my big piece of
clay. I used my hands in order to transform the bread slice looking clay into a ball. Then I
followed the method that we were taught in class in order to shape my pot. I used stamping in
order to decorate my pot. I used my star shaped earrings.
#2 Double Pinch Construction
I began my double pinch construction by making two identical pots. I scraped
the top of each pot using a needle looking tool and put slip using a tooth brush in order to
join them together. After that I used another tool in order to make the outside and
inside of my pot smooth looking. I used stamping and incising to make my piece unique and a work of my own imagination. The bottom part of my double pinch pot was a bit flimsy so I used
the coil method to add on a layer in order to make my bottom part firm.
#3 Texture Tile
I made my tile a little over 7x7 because after the tile is fired it will shrink. I got
leaves and a thin branch in my yard in order to make a vein looking structure on the left
side of my piece. I mostly used stamping because I had these small shapes that made it
easier for me to stamp things in. I also used one of my circle earrings in order to form a
flower looking form. I used a toothpick in order to make take the thin stamps out of the
clay each time. I also drew swirls and lines in order to make the piece more unique.
#4 Coil Construction
I began my coil construction by cutting off a chunk of my clay in order to
make a tube looking figure so that it would fit into the machine that squeezes the
clay into a thin coil shape. First I used a circular shape in order to make the base
of my pottery. I then used slip in order to make the coils stick with each other to
form a small swimming pool. I cut the coils into smaller pieces in order to put
them together to make a deck. I also used the coil to shape out my name to
make it look like alphabet tubes floating on the swimming pool.
#5 Slab Construction
I began my slab construction by making a template out of cardboard paper and then
creating enough slabs to make my piece. I used incising, with the star earrings I had. I
also used a thin branch and leaves from the Plumeria tree to incise into the slab. I also cut
out circles and hearts from my slabs to create unique designs.
#6 Tea Pot

I began by using the double pinch construction method in order to make the body of my teapot. After making the body, I made a big hole on top so that I would be able to put water inside my teapot. After I made the big hole, I used tools to make the outside surface and the inside of my teapot smooth. I made a thin coil in order to make my handle and a thinker coil to make the spout. I made a slab and cut out heart shapes. I used slip and a toothbrush to put the heart shapes, my spout, and my handle onto the body of my teapot. I made the four cups using the pinch construction and I used slip to put the heart shapes onto my cups.

That's really cool! Awesome job my favorite is the teapot!
